MAINT indicator in odometer

Does anyone know how to reset the "MAINT" indicator in the odometer? I just had my 600 mile service done and they neglected to reset it. I didn't notice till I got home. I don't really want to return there as: 1) it's a long trip, and 2) they are incompetent. (They also charged me for 4 qts of engine oil - the engine holds 1.8).

The owners manual says to see a Moto Guzzi dealer for this reset, but on most bikes that have a similar feature, it's usually some combination of ignition key on-offs, etc.

Any help appreciated.

No tooling required, from memory, although I'll have to double check,.

Turn on ignition and allow the dash to go through the motions. Then press down both of the buttons under the clocks and hold 'em down for a few seconds. Turn off ignition while still holding down buttons and keep 'em held down for 15 seconds or so. Release buttons. turn ignition on again and voila! 'maint' had vanished.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! Yes, the bike is a 2009 V7 Classic. Pete - I tried your procedure but it didn't reset. I turned on ignition, waited for the needles to swing up and back, and then held down both buttons for 5 seconds or so,then turned off ignition while still holding the buttons in. Waited 15 seconds - released buttons. Next ignition turn on - still get the MAINT warning.

It's not a big deal so don't go to too much trouble - I will eventually return with the bike to the dealer where I originally prurchased it and have them see to it. I also would like them to load the latest mapping as I'm running a bit lean now after intalling the Mistral mufflers and crossover.

This shop where I just visited and did the 600 mile svc (it's closer to me) .... not so good with Guzzis. They even 'forgot' my appointment and when I showd up today to pick up my bike after having left it off yesterday morning - they didn't even have it logged on their job list. I had to rent a car to get there, etc. So, I waited 3 hours while they worked on it today. Don't think I'll ever return there for anything.

Its an LCD display .

Try one button at a time. I can't remember offhand the exact proceedure, I thought it was both buttons, have a play using a few combinations and eventualy it'll go away. I haven't got a bike to experiment with here at the moment.

resetting the "maint" thing is easy:

push the odo-trip button (and keep it pushed)
switch on ignition-key
wait 'till the Xmastree (all the lights) goes out
release button
switch off ignition

next start, the "maint" thing will be gone
