I'm running two 4-cell's on my V50III Cafe with Valeo starter, and a 12-cell on my LM IV with Bosch starter. These are nice batteries - be careful not to overtorque the terminal bolts (DAMHIK), tho.

Todd, for those of us who don't have to have the latest & greatest-& the price that generally goes with that-do you still have the Taiwanese made more conventional AGM battery with I think you said 19 AH, a bit more AH than the stock Yuasa & at a considerably lesser price? How much for that & does it easily utilize the stock battery cable ends and have the same size/shape as stock? I checked over at the Guzzitech store & didn't see any batteries.

LiION batteries are a pretty different fruit, as is well known. Much improved performance at the added technological requirement of needing "smart management" due to more delicate chemistry.

Yes they do. The circuits in the battery also shut it off at 9 volts (which is below the ECU requirement) to prevent damage. The manufacturer also has a specific charger for them that can smart balance the individual cells. A smart balance is recommended every 6 months to extend battery life but isn't a warranty requirement. The battery has a specific port on them (under the cap between the connectors) where the smart charger plugs in. The charger also has regular cables that can be used to charge standard (lead acid) batteries. I'm sure Todd will make the chargers available as well if there is demand.

I suppose that each cell has an embeded controller and there is some central chip arbitrating power through cells.

Not sure, but the charger price is reasonable and it plugs directly into the special port on their battery.

I do know there is circuitry in the battery that controls the cells, but as to exactly how that works, check with an electrical engineer. I just know the system works as provided and to me trying to circumvent the solution provided is just too much trouble and probably would end up more expensive than just buying their charger.

To cut short any unneeded questions of mine,
now that I am well aware of their plug'n'play existence, I would already have ordered one for my dream bike Griso (now what I need is the Griso itself ).
If the bike is going to be sitting for long intervals, they will be proving their value very fast by not having to remember any maintenance charging. Just like mirrors, the good ones you never see them because they do their job always as supposed to...
