YSS shock option for Quota!

Postby waspp » Sat Jun 11, 2011 8:39 am

Before my Texas trip the original Sachs shock went belly up so through Todd here at Guzzi Tech I purchased a YSS shock specifically made for the Quota. My shock was used to create a build sheet on the Quota shock and should be able to be ordered through Todd. I have to say the shock is a huge improvement with adjustable rebound and compression settings you can dial this shock in to your specific needs. The compression and rebound settingsare something like 60 clicks so there is a lot of room for fine tuning I put 4500 miles on the new shock carriyng my aluminum panniers and all my camping gear and the bike handled great. I had a blast hitting the twisties on TN 30 between McMinville and Pikeville which is a great stretch of road by the way. Anyhow this a great direct bolt on upgrade and the shock is a real quality part.

No mention of remote preload. To me remote preload is huge on an adventure touring bike like the Quota. Does YSS have remote preload available?

Remote spring preload? There are options available but i'm not sure what, my shock has 60 click adjustment for rebound damping and 20 clicks compression damping. Once your spring preload is set for correct sag changing the rebound and compression fine tune your ride depending on your load. The rebound adjustment is at the attachment point on the swing arm and the compression adjustment is near the upper mounting point. I ran fully loaded with my aluminum panniers and camping gear and when I returned home backed off the rebound adjustment to smooth out the ride. Works like a champ!

Sounds like it is pretty much like the old shock as far as adjusting. Do you have pictures you can post?
