? on the value of a Quota

Postby kwn306 » Wed May 05, 2010 3:53 am

I have found (by accident) a brand new 2000 Quota in the crate, unassembled in the northeast part of the USA.

The dealer (not Guzzi) that has it wants to damn much in my opinion ($9K) for the bike, unassembled and no warranty.

How much is it worth or how much should I offer?

If I purchase it what do I need to look out for?

Any advise?

Thank you for your time in advance.

Kurt, at that price he can keep it. NADA average retail for a used bike is $2255.00. Since it is new, value is higher but it is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. I do know some of the early Quotas (1999) had in issue with the barometric pressure sensor in the ECU that were replaced by MG under warranty. I don't know if any of the 2000 bikes had the issue. Since it has been in the crate this long, the fuel pump may be jammed, but they can usually be freed up with carb cleaner.

If I really really wanted one, I *might* go 6K, realizing it may very well need serious sorting. (ecu, pc,rear wheel, exhaust, etc.) <shrug>

I'd probably agree with Chuck about $6K, if I really wanted one. There was only one model year in the USA (2000). Suggested retail if I remember was $9995. After a few months a rebate for $3K came out. A number of new bikes (with warranty and assembled) were sold at about that $7K price range.
