Vibration in fourth gear

Postby Rickhinnz » Wed Aug 24, 2011 2:21 am

I've just purchased a 95 1100 Sport and am slightly worried by the noticeable vibration in fourth gear. The is a slight vibration in fifth but no where near as bad. First to third are fine. Any ideas as to what I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

Check the condition of the driveshaft and make sure the trunions are aligned. Drop out the gearbox oil and check the magnet for excess build up of metal particles ( you always find a little bit of metal on the magnet) but a big furry deposit spells trouble. You could also check obvious things like wheel balance. Also listen for an extra loud whine in those gears. Good luck, Voncrump
