Mirrors on a Daytona

Postby Zecis » Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:04 am

I've recently got my first Daytona - all is great except..... the guy that sold it to me had taken the mirrors off because they "go out of adjustment over 40mph". He sent them to me the other day, and sure enough at the mirror end there is a ball joint that is so loose it is impossible to use them - with no way of tightening it.
Someone here must have solved this problem. I've looked to replace them altogether but can't find any that use the same mounting holes - others must have faced this problem. How have you fixed it??
Thanks

I had a similar problem with a LeMans. Once you get the mirrors where you want them, place a few drops of green loctite (it is formulated to wick into threads) on the ball joint, and let it sit overnight. It will wick into the ball and socket and stiffen it up. If you need to move the mirrors later, it will give way, but you will need to re-apply the loctite.
