new switch gearHey Guys,I got such good response to my last querie that I thought I'd run this one past the group.I'm working on getting my '77 T3 (not the '76 I'm cafe-ing) up and running and since it sat for several years before I got it and the electrics are suffering from moisture, and non-use I decided to go with new switch gear on both sides, which I got from MG cycle. The switches are nice replacements but, needless to say,are not a direct wire-for-wire replacement.I have most everything sorted out except I can't get the horn or the starter to work useing the respective buttons.Has anyone here used these units and kept a diagram of how they wired them up,color-for-color?These two things both work by simply grounding and completeing the circuit but I see no way for these switches to do that since they are in plastic cases and do not have a metal part that grounds to the bars.Nor do I see a grounding wire coming from either switch.Any help would be appreciated.Steve
Re: new switch gearfossil, you're almost there, you just need to complete the ground from the switch through the block connector, by adding a ground wire at the harness (loom) side of the block. I just corrected the installation of the L switch on a 77 Lemans. You should be able to get everything to work except for the parking light position on the ignition switch.
here's a thread that might help. http://forum.guzzitech.com/forum/topic.html?f=197&t=7604&hilit=+switch MGNOC L-489 since '81
