Alex, take a look again. Is it still the lowest price you seen in a while? Somebody has spare parts and a shop to resurrect the wreck. The instruments look like the only parts that are not totally trashed.

That bike is nearby, but I wouldn't give any more than $500.00 for it. You are looking at close to 10K to bring that poor neglected machine back to proper running condition. Just to recondition the swan neck bars would be close to a grand (chrome work has gotten very expensive) . Then you need to find the missing parts. I'd hate to think what the inside of that engine looks like.

Whoah!!! Looks like someone is gunna rebuild that thing eh?

I was considering it (at the early price) but a few things got in the way.

1: Too far for me. Getting it from the East to the West would be costly. The last one I did like that cost me more than $1K to get it home. Doing things with remote control is not cost effective for me.

2: Pig in a poke. Engine shot. Trans shot. Forks, swing arm maybe not repairable. Rear drive possibly one solid piece... A total resto. While I have many of the needed parts, if the engine or trans casses are beyond serviceablility, the best possible result would not be what I would want.

3: This is a major undertaking. Doable to be sure, but the way I operate, the chances of breaking even, much less making a dollar if I ever sold it, are slim to none. I would have too much invested.

4: Hopefully the winner of the bike will rebuild it to perfection. This will employ hundreds of people and bring back another lost gem.

and I guess I just plain chickend out... ;)

Fun to watch though.
