oil temp gauges on E-bay

Hi all,

A few weeks ago I ordered an oil temp gauge for my 1998 EV for only $44.00 including shipping. Came in today and looks quite good and will give it a full test over the weekend. Below is the url to the E-bay listing:

Hi Brian,

That's a good price if it's a good product!

Would you mind measuring and posting the length of the stick, from the base where the o-ring sits to the tip? (In millimeters if convenient.) Also, were there any full/add marks on it, or do you add your own?

Hi Moto,

Added my own full/add marks with a small file.

Length from base/where o-ring sits to the tip is 165 mm

Actual length of rod is 148 mm which is about the same as the one on my 1998 EV.

Hi Brian,

Thanks! I just checked my two bikes, and got these for the distance from where the o-ring sits to the tip:

850-T3, longer aftermarket dipstick for use w/ sump extension: 144mm (barely long enough, by the way)

Griso 1100, stock dipstick: 193mm

I expect the 165 would work with sump-extended T3 motor, but it would be easy to determine that before ordering.

(But I suppose the real question is whether either motor really needs an oil temp gauge given how I use the bikes.)
