Motor build advice

Postby Link » Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:39 am

Hi all, I'm an old go-fast guy (haven't raced or been on a track in 5 years) & new to Guzzi's. I'm interested in doing a motor build on a 73 850 Eldorado & am looking for some one near S.F. Ca. that knows these motors & what works, I will not be building my motor. My goal would be a balanced reliable 950cc motor that has more top end then the stock 850 motor, the motor will be for a street bike. From what little research I've done it seems balancing these is critical. For starters I'm thinking Gilardoni Cylinder kit, Carrillo rods, Mega Cycle cam, 36mm carbs., use stock valves push rods & lifters, convert to elec. ignition. Any advice will be helpful.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the info. I don't have any one lined up to do the motor work yet. I'm hoping I find some body that has done a few & knows what works best. I sent Bill a PM & see what happens.
Thanks again
