Postby dubtac » Thu Jan 19, 2012 10:18 am

Well fellas it has finally died after 17,000 miles and 2600 dollars left on the loan. This is what happened got bad gas from the gas station .Pulled off the tank and emptied it the old fashion way.Put fresh 93 in it,checked all connections.Went down the road and it just ceased to start anymore.Checked for spark excellent blue fire.Has plenty of compression.Turns over excellent all lights are bright and vivid starter works excellent.I cant afford to put it in a shop im a poor college student.Im at wits end with this P.O.S

I suspect it has thrown an internal fuel line, or the fuel filter has clogged or ruptured. Both items are inside the fuel tank.

Do not know your skill level, dubtac, but if it is that, no big deal, i.e., if I -- quite possibly the least-skilled wrench on this board -- can do it, anyone can. If a first time for you, do read the thread(s) on disconnecting the fuel line or you'll be cursing that "POS" even more loudly. ;)

Hope you become a better student, too ... oh, you meant no money. :P

Seriously, with the exception of the "startus interruptus" issue that affects most of the CARC's and a dash issue or two, B11's have been pretty trouble free. Sorry you have had issues. One of these days, this will just be one of the stories you use to bore your kids feceless about your tough college days.

Best wishes on a quick (and cheap) fix.

I'm with John on this one.

Can you hear the fuel pump fire up?

You evidently already know how to remove the fuel tank, getting the pump out and checking the status of the hose and fuel filter aren't too bad after that.

Just my two cents... I have an 06 B1100 now with 37,000+ miles and it is THE most enjoyable motorcycle that I have owned. That includes Ducati's, HD's, Honda's, Suzuki's, etc. Once you get it sorted out you may not have to touch it for many miles, mine has been problem free for the last two years (approx.20,000miles).
