Custom exhaust

Postby ghezzi » Sun Nov 06, 2011 12:40 am

Bellagio - 2 valve pushrod.
Custom exhaust with twin slim megaphones mounted high on the left side.
Reason - New single seat and tail light finish above rear axle, but standard mufflers finish behind wheel.
I'm planning retro style headers Le Mans/Cali bend and diameter.

Question; Original Le Mans/Cali headers and standard 'H' pipe worked good on the old motor.
Anybody have dimensions/lengths etc of these pipes.
'H' pipe, I believe, had tails of specific dia and length that slid half way up inside my Staintune mufflers on my old Cali Stone.

I intend to bring the right side pipe (after 'H' join) under the sump to exit left side for twin mufflers on left side mounted higher, somewhere between top of rim and below seat. The right header pipe will flow to the lower muffler and will end shorter than the high muffler from the left cylinder, in the interest of keeping them close to same total length.

The pictures in me 'ead are good, but having said that I'm already on my 3rd battery tray and second seat.

I'd rather ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow. But the older I get the faster I was.

I just had JD and Peter at Pipemaster cut and redesign the Staintune mufflers for refitting to the LeMans. My main concern was that the tails on the H pipe are no longer there. They were cut off when the Conti replicas were fitted. I hope it doesn't muck the performance up to much.

My complete system is laying on the bench at the moment, your quite welcome to come and take some measurements.

Booked in with Pete at Pipemasters in a few weeks time, he has done heaps of Guzzi stuff but thought of I could turn up with known measurements, especially of the small tube length and dia, it may save them hassle.

Plus I get to design my system prior to arrival, ;)
