Fuel light indicator-Stelvio

Postby nigel page » Thu Jan 26, 2012 12:40 pm

I have the 33 L tank on my Stelvio, the fuel light comes on with one bar remaining. When the final bar goes out, it takes 25 L to refill the tank. Is there a count down indicator or will the light flash when I get closer to empty or is there some way of measuring how far or how many L to go?

Hi from what I've seen on mine when the light comes on it displays how far you have gone since it came on, bit strange I refuel on or just after the light comes on and add 25 or 26 liters I think the book of words says it comes on when 7 Ltrs left which seems to tie in I regularly get 250 miles to this point so poss around 75 left too heavy too push so not tested this something flashes I think the bar but certainly not the very bright light

Since I had been waiting for my aux tank to arrive, I have yet to run the main dry. It is my understanding from others on the board that the counter starts to count up shortly after the light comes on. At some point it starts to count down to "W" (for Walk) :D I have not verified this yet, but will be doing so this coming summer.

Last year, returning home from the National, it had counted up to 27 miles with hthe light on. Just as I rolled into the driveway, the last segment of the fuel gauge went out. A day or two later, I only needed to go three miles to the gas station. I had 178 miles on the tank. I never did see the counter start going down though.

On mine, the light comes on. Shortly after that, the odometer starts counting up miles. At about 43 miles, I'm using my spare fuel can.

So it does not begin to count down at some point as others had said?

Never seen that. And no idea why it would do something that odd.

Thanks, now I know what to, or what not to, expect.

Wow! 43 miles on the count up indicator? I thought I was living dangerously when I took mine to 33 miles before refueling the other day.

Gives me an excuse to put fresh fuel in my spare fuel can.
