Brake pads...

Postby gdp » Mon Jan 23, 2012 8:39 am

...I know you've already had this discussion, but...strictly street riding on my Stelvio ...and individual feel is the 'thing', what brake pads should I get? My old Tiger 955 worked great w/sintered (iron?)...but,Ebc recommends a Kevlar- based pad....er uh, confusion reigns...

Brembo makes a sintered pad to run with the stock disks. I recommend them vs. EBC's HH, which is a great pad, but extremely hard on the disks.

The kevlar pads have a much lower friction, and aren't very long lived.
I use them if I feel a brake is too aggressive, but avoid them otherwise.
I have EBC HH sintered pads on the back of my Stelvio. I over use my back brake because I am usually riding two up, and like the longer life of the sintered pads.
What Todd says is true about them being hard on the rotors.

...went for the HH EBC...knowing they're brutal on rotor-life,I'm gonna try to mired a little easier on them, if I can....thanks for the feedback...much appreciated...
