2009 Stelvio Headlights

Postby Redcat72 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:51 pm

Are both of the Stelvio headlights supposed to work? Seems like a simple issue, but the salesman at the Guzzi dealership swears that only one works, with the other being a backup. I've seen photos, however, that show both illuminated.

Please help....my local dealership is clueless!

As delivered only one low beam works. High beam? Both should illuminate. You can very easily shunt across with a relay to make both low beams work. Why did they do this? God alone knows. Probably to try and make it look like a poxy BMW.

Mine was the same as the others, both dip beams on but only one high beam is wired to work.

I have fitted a jumper wire from the working high beam on the right to the left. I had a whole load of female spade connectors but not one fit the H4 bulb male connectors. Anyway I bought a H4 bulb connecting block and stripped it so now I can do three bikes, my brothers and probably HarryH's stelvio if he wanst it doing. I used one of those little thingies that join wires for tapping in to the right high beam and used the empty space in the H4 block already on the bike to fit the female spade connector. Job done, it is a little tight in there so be prepared to fiddle around a bit... ;)

windy -

Where did you find a spare "H4 Connector Block"?

And which "little thingie" for joining wires did you use? I'm always looking for good ideas if there's no room to cut, strip, and crimp or solder in there ....

Thanks!

The H4 connector is the same as any three prong sealed beam. These are readily available at any auto parts store in the US (look in the electrical section), probably in other countries as well.
