Which bar risers for a 1200 Sport

Postby Pheebster » Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:26 pm

Like most Sport owners i'm having an issue with the bars...bit too wide , rather too far away.

Having done a lot of reading on here I can see that most go for the Mana bars conversion but that seems like a bit too much hassle and cost so I would prefer to go the simple riser route . Rox risers do an adjustable riser to fit fatbars with a 1.75 inch rise which will rotate back towards the rider. This seems the way to go for me BUT in style they are more suited to an adventure bike and look a bit clunky/rugged.

Any other suggestions for risers?

Cheers .....Ian

I made mine from 20mm Aluminium plate - spent several months working on them as a spare time activity at work. Made a difference to me - good for the soul doing some mechanical work...

It would be a easy job for a machine shop to profile a pair of spacers from aluminium plate which would fit under the existing risers.
It's a pity someone didn't offer to take orders for a batch some time ago. A CNC milling machine would only take a few minutes to complete the job (see TV 's American Chopper).
The problem would be if everyone wanted different sizes. To get round this they could be made in say 15mm plate and if necessary you would double them up to 30mm etc.
Cost could become prohibtive if they exceed the £60 a set of handlebars cost. And you would only be adjusing the height not the reach.
The Mana bars are a bit fiddly to fit but the riding position is well worth it Also don't forget the newer 8v bars are slightly higher and would go straight on.

Thanks for the replies guys....make your own risers sounds like an easy job if you have the skills and the eqpt...sadly I lack both.

I should have said that mine is a 2009 8v so it sounds like it already has slightly higher bars which I wasn't aware of B)

No mate of mine, Mark works for Johnny Rocker a firm that sells bar risers. I rang them out of curiousity and he was the guy that I spoke to. Its upto you to make sure you get what you want though.
