Mistral alloy muffler for Breva 1200

Postby magoo » Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:11 am

Hello,

Looking for some advice. I have an '08 Breva 1200 (not the 1200 Sport but the naked 2V Norge that MG did not sell in the US)

Looks identical to the B1100. Does anyone know if the Mistral alloy muffler sold for the B1100 would be a straight bolt on to my B1200 ??

Also, I have one of Todd's O2 optimisers fitted which reduced the popping on overrun by probably 50%. Do you think the Mistral with the db killer in would result in more popping than the standard pipe ? I'm not after noise just better looks and the much lighter weight.

Thanks,

As far as I know the silencer of a Breva 1100 does not fit to the Breva 1200. The connnection angles are not the same. Manufacturers as QD etc. do have different articlenumbers for both the silencers.
At least I didn't buy a secondhand B1100 QD silencer for my B1200.
Conserning the popping: this doesn't make any difference I think. Popping is more infuenced by the steppermotor and the mapping.

Something is not right. You should not be getting any poping with stock set up. The Mistral 1100 won't fit the 1200. The 11 has a completely different crossover.

My 1100 would pop with the Mistral. After I put Todd's O2, it stopped poping. It would pop prior to that even with the db killer, but it was much mutted.

You'll need a Norge or Sport muffler for your B12.

Have you checked/reset your TPS? The 1200's are more prone to popping, and will not be resolved until you plug the engineered intake air leaks (Edit: If the bike above is yours, perhaps you already have, and I do not believe you have the North American evap can, correct?). Also, the Stepper Motor is a culprit as well for pop-on-decel on the 1200s.

Interesting -an engineered leak. Glad I don't have one of those but then the B12 doesn't have the separate catalytic converter. Magoo, maybe you can find an OE 1200 Sport muffler that someone has removed from their bike, they look and sound better than the B11 & Norge mufflers.

If the bike pops now, the pops would just be louder with a louder pipe. Ask me how I know

Thanks all for your replies. I emailed the supplier and I have ordered the stainless oval Mistral for a Sport 1200. Mine is the version without the evap canister Todd.

I'll post about the result when I have it installed though delivery in Oz due to our postal service takes ages sometimes. From the many threads about mufflers and electrickery over the years I gather that the Mistrals have a nice note that is not too loud. I can't stand very loud pipes.

Cheers,
