My brother and I are taking a wee ride up to Trinidad and the Redwoods from Cathedral City, CA and of course, the coast down.
Any recommendations for the ride from South to North?

Great roads. Don't miss the stretch of 3 between Douglas City and Hayfork - it'll round out a squared off tires! I didn't include 299 but try to fit it in. If you like goaty roads, there are plenty - the stretch from Ferndale to Briceland was spectacular - pot holes galore in a few sections. Have fun! MGNOC L-489 since '81

Re: Redwood RunThere's a great ride through the Lost Coast, head for Honeydew, Petrolia and then follow the coast to Ferndale before Eureka.
I've been there at three or four times, although not recently. Used to be able to stay in cabins in Honeydew, not sure if they still exit. ![]()
Re: Redwood RunHow much time do you have to play around?
How twisty or goaty do you like your roads?
Re: Redwood Run
About 7/10 days. Twisty. I survived 191 OK and 152 out of Silver City OK after the State kindly decided to oil it just the day before. I ride a Norge, and my brother rides a BMW RT Minor goatyness is OK I suppose. Brian

Re: Redwood RunShucks, it occurs to me that I'm basically telling you about your own back yard.
I just saw opportunity for twistiness beside the straight shot up 395. You probably know most of these roads, but as long as the Crest is open again, why not start there?
Re: Redwood RunBrian,
Did you ever make it up to Trinidad? I rode hwy 3 again on my way back from Oregon. It was recently resurfaced - Great ride. MGNOC L-489 since '81

Re: Redwood Run
Yes, we did make it to Trinidad. Highway 3 was great fun but we had to stop and wait about 5 times for road crews to do their thing. All in all, a pretty good ride if you like fog. Brian
