Saying Good-Bye to T.W.O. & Other Sights [pix]

Postby Bill Hagan » Tue Mar 15, 2011 6:50 am

I posted something similar on wildguzzi, as there had been considerable chatter there on the subject, but include some of that here as some of you "don't go there."

Mojohand and others, too, I think, have mentioned that T.W.O. was closing. For those who do not know, the place's been a almost ritualistic stop for motorcyclists in the southeast for many years.

So, as the this past weekend was gorgeous in the southeast. Kathi and I did household chores and frontloaded Mass on Saturday, leaving Sunday for a run to the mountains, including paying respects to T.W.O.

The Norge is minus its collector pipe; it had cracked and Todd is fabricating a "crack-proof" version, the first for a Norge. Looking forward to getting that back and bolting it on ... and, hopefully living a crack-free life.

Anyway, the Norge's convalescence meant giving my daily commuter, that sweet old HDM EV, a chance to breathe mountain air.

Kathi loves to start these rides with coffee and apple fritters on the deck at Hofer's in Helen http://www.hofers.com/ so we did. We also wanted to "say good-bye" to T.W.O. -- http://www.twowheelsonly.com/ -- as it had closed after many years of great service to motorcyclists in the southeast. The website says "will case ops on 22 March," but when we got there on Sunday, it was already closed. A number -- smaller than I would have thought -- of folks wandered around. Requiescat in Pace.

But, life goes on. So, we also stopped off at Riders Hill to say howdy and kick tires. Great folks, and more Guzzis were going out the door. Mighty impressive sales figures, I would think. RH also had gotten in some nice Guzzi gear. Haven't been on the MG website in many months, so maybe this is old news for many of you, but the apparel appeared to me to be MUCH better quality, appearance, etc., than any in years.

Anyway, and I know this comes as a great disappointment to possibly two of you :P , I wasn't able to post my usual couple of hundred pix as I didn't have the cam mounted. That's because somebody borrowed my ram mount, and hasn't returned it, but I'm sending a Samoan sniper after him soon which will resolve that little problem.

Anyway, here are my captioned pix: http://tinyurl.com/T-W-O-More

A shame, of which I had no clue. I'd planned to go there next year.

Bill, thanks for the post here on it. I went there in the early 90's... it had a good run. Hopefully they'll find a new owner.
