Actually, Rafael, while I agree that the Bald Eagle is a grand symbol, I am pretty fond of Franklin's choice of the wild turkey ... and of Kentucky's liquid Wild Turkey.

Think, too, but with no evidence whatever except speculation, that the Moto Guzzi eagle, taken from WWI Italian air force wings, was a Golden Eagle. It is in that part of Europe; even think I saw a pair in the Alto Adige when there a few years ago.

Can't recall seeing any in this country -- and think I surely would -- tho they are apparently not uncommon. The Italian birds I saw were browner than I thought they would be, but looked 'em up and think that's what they were.
