Griso 2nd design head gasketDoes anyone Know on the three piece head gasket, which side goes down, the one with the raised area or the beveled side?
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketI ake it this is for an 1100? I think they re ambi-sidestrous. Do they have different part numbers left and right?. If not i can't see it would matter. It's just a gasket being clamped between two flat surfaces.
Pete
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketDuc, How come you had the heads off? I take it that by 2nd design you mean the one with "ears". Is the 2nd design better than the old V11 style ? and can you put the second design on to an early Griso? Cheers.
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketCharlie, the 2nd design and first are not the same. You connot use one on the other oil passoges do not line up.I am having heads cut .020 inch to raise compression and some mild porting plus performance valve cut. Also setting squish to approx .043 inches.Should run better and cleaner.
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketPete it is an 1100,I did not pay attention when I tore it down. What concerned me is the single piece gasket is marke with this side up and the three piece is not.It just made me think there might be an up side.I know the early design is marked because tney sent me the wrong ones to begin with.
Thanks Duc/Mell
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketPete, had to go look to be sure it actually says top on one side.
Thanks Duc
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketDuc, what will your finished Compression ratio be? Whats the difference between OEM and a "Performance" valve cut? Will that have any affect on longevity? Any more info on the porting? You are goiung to set your Sqish at 0.043",what is stock ? What other mods have you done? How did your bike run before this work? Forgive all the questions but "If you dont ask youll never know". Can you post on finished results?
Cheers Charlie.
Re: Griso 2nd design head gasketCharlie bike has todds performance ecu no 02 sensor , power commander and a pipe.I posted dyno charts a while back
put out approx 77 horsepower at rear wheel.I hope this will bump it up to closer to 90. A good 5 angle valve job should hold up as well as stock and perform better. The Squish before changes was approx .065 "
