Things I Don't Need or: How I Chose to Support the Forum

Postby dgreenwood » Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:28 pm

I recently sent a member that I haven’t met a set of turn signals that I didn’t need and asked that he make a contribution to the GuzziTech forum in lieu of payment. I didn’t specify a price. It turns out that he was very generous with his donation.

I decided to do this because it makes me feel good to help others and I understand the expense involved in maintaining a message board like this one. Judging by the donation, I’d guess that the guy who received the turn signals felt good about it too. He got a product he wanted, at a price he set, in a way that supported something he feels is important. I’d also bet that GT-Rx was pleasantly surprised to get some unexpected help without having to ask. That’s three people who got a little bit of a lift from this transaction. Pretty cool.

It got me thinking that I could do more so I’m starting this thread. I have a few more items that I wouldn’t mind giving up. If anyone wants any of it, let me know and I’ll ship it to you at my expense. After you receive the items and inspect them, you decide how much you should contribute to the GT forum. Feel free to give yourself a good deal if money is tight or be generous if you can afford to be; it’s for a good cause. I only ask that you don’t take advantage of the situation. If you are looking to get something for nothing, this isn’t the place. You’d be taking money away from the forum since someone else may be willing to contribute a fair amount.

Lastly, I’m hoping that others recognize the value in this concept and reply to my post to offer up items of their own. Maybe this thread will hang around for a while as a way for members to help each other out and perpetually support the forum at the same time.

Feel free to list any item here, no matter how small or large. List a minimum donation if you want, or not; there are no rules except that I hope you act with integrity. Remember that the goal is to help others and support the GuzziTech forum.

Here are some things I’d like to offer up. If you want any of it, post your interest in this thread. If you are first, I’ll pay to ship it to you. You decide how much to contribute to the board.

All Items are off of a ‘04 Stone that I traded in on my Griso.

A set of stock rear shocks, fully functional. Only removed because I upgraded to YSS.

Stock handlebars and riser assembly (I don’t know if it can be called a riser because it doesn’t really raise anything). Fully functional, not bent or marked up. Only removed when I installed bars and risers from a Cali Aluminum. Together or will separate.

Set of stock foot pegs with mounts (operator, not passenger). Decent condition, only removed to install rear sets.

The following items have both been bent and then re-bent back into shape. They are serviceable but show signs of what they’ve been through. They’re a good option for someone who broke one and needs a replacement that works. Fully functional, only removed when rear sets were installed.

Stock rear brake lever (with linkage if requested).

Stock shift lever with heel portion cut off to create a toe-only shift lever (linkage has been shipped).

Well that didn't go over well. I think I know how Jerry Maguire felt when the response to his manifesto was the sound of crickets chirping. Hopefully the problem was a lack of in-demand-goods so I guess I'll try to up the ante.

This item has been shipped.
I have a black Tour Master Super Mini Tank Bag that is used but in good condition. It's the magnetic version so I can't use it on my new Griso. It's pretty small at 6.5 liters but it always seemed to fit what I needed for a day trip (a drink, cell phone, camera, maps, etc). MSRP is $79 but I think it can be found for $60ish if you shop. This is the model: http://www.amazon.com/Cortech-Super-Tankbag-Magnetic-Mount/dp/B000IZXB4O

If you want it, I'll ship it to you at my cost. You only need to agree to make what you feel is a fair donation to the Guzzitech forums once you've received and inspected the tank bag.

Anyone interested?

Do you have the small threaded rod that connects the shifter to the transmission? If so, I'll be happy to donate to the board.

I do, the picture below shows what I have for the shift lever and linkage. The foot peg assembly is only in the picture because I haven't broken it down yet. I wouldn't send the peg unless you state that you need it.

Are you looking just for the rod, the rod and the fittings, or the whole assembly (rod, fittings, and shift lever)?

Let me know what you want and what address you want it sent to and I'll get it out ASAP.

Yes, I still have the tank bag available. Feel free to ask any questions you have or provide an address you'd like me to ship it to if you want it.
