Exh Temps?

Postby Tonerjockey » Tue Nov 08, 2011 10:34 am

Hey all y'all,

What exhaust temps do you typically experience while racing?

My last outing showed mid 400 F. I was running HUGE main jets. I lowered them almost to stock and now at last test was up about 2X the previous temp.

The 400F temps were with more than usual advance.

Al melts at 1218 F or so.

I think I'll leave the advance and the 140 mains and see what the dyno thinks. Typically I run mains much larger than I should I spoze...

Maybe a rain-out at El Mirage this weekend anyhow.

If you're talking cylinder head temps, 450F is redline. Exhaust temps can vary all over because of variable places for the probe. Normally, they run from around 1000F up, though.
