Guzzis at BUB?

Postby geodoc » Thu Sep 08, 2011 1:04 pm

Any news on Guzzis running at the BUB salt flats?

Tom Mellor apparently did 193 in partially streamlined pushrod gas 1000 on the Trident.

Bill Ross already ran, I think he doesn't do the Bub week as it's gotten to hard to get onto the Salt with them.. could be wrong. Here's his update:

BillR-MM-APS.jpg
"The Core Subtle Crowbar Team at Speedweek 2011, Steve Winfrey on my right and Uncle Bill Duree on the left. Sunday morning in impound after a 171+ backup pass on a 162.9 record, for a new record averaged at 169.770. We ran the 973cc motor on gas. Later on this day, the engine would suffer some horrendous damage and our campsite would be destroyed by wind and rain!" - B.R.

and...

BillR-MM-APG.jpg
"We ran the 973cc Mandello Meteor to 159.84 mph with this bodywork, went to impound, then got disqualified for it not being a full 'A' bike, a little confusion from interpretation of the rule book. What a ride though, I really like the open class without streamlining, it feels much more like being on a bike." - B.R.

Charlie Rice had a nasty get off on his 1000cc Guzzi at Bub, he`s home healing.

I talked with Tom Liberatore ( Pep Bros ) yesterday, His motor blew up pretty hard at the World of Speed event that is running right now. He was volunteering his time at the Bub event and didn`t run there. He`s pretty bummed and will need some help with parts, hopefully not to bad. The cases have new holes on both sides.

Todd, I pretty much am sticking twith the SCTA-BNI events and rules for now. it`s too expensive to run both events, different rules, membership fees etc. The records set at Bub are AMA records.

Nice pass for the mellor triumph !
