Breva 1100 Side Stand.
The foot of the side stand is rather small.
This is what I have done to change that. (see attachment).
It is a little different to that posted for use on a Stelvio (I think).
Before I fitted the springs, it seemed that it would foul the exhaust pipe, but, fitting the springs cured that.
The material used is approx 50x50x6mm mild steel welded to the original foot, not overlapping on the inside corner nearest the back wheel.
Hope this helps someone

Cheers

Nice work.

For some reason MG decided to use a different sidestand in the US. The US version has an elbo in it slung low to the ground and the pad extends further from the bike. So, if the foot pad sinks into dirt, then the forearm becomes a bearing surface. Can't figure out their motive for different versions. Could it be they think yanks more litigious?

Is there any doubt? I believe there may be some odd federal regulation to cover the configuration as well.

Different markets, NO - They had a different side stand for each street one was sold into!

A mate of mine has a 1200 Sport with the same build code (same month) and the side stands are different as are a number of other (little) things - his foot is twice the size of mine (the one on the side stand - ID10T). I carry a piece of Aluminium (note the "correct" spelling) in my tank bag, attached to a piece of stainless wire with a loop in the end. Enables quick placement of teh plate before getting off the bike, and a handy reminder (the loop) goes around the left hand grip. Even though this took me a day or so to build (being very careful), I am too lazy to modify the foot on the side stand.

So the pot should be stirred now...

I prefer the USA version, much more piece of mind when using it on soft surfaces. I have it on my Brevas and Norge, but for the three 1200 Sports I have had to go the other way and use the Rest of the World version, as these all have slightly lowered footrests from stock. No piece of mind here, but no topple overs yet either.
